Janalyn is a proud native of the "Queen City" of Charlotte, NC. She has studied acting at Florida A&M University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Performance and CPCC where she studied under Marilyn Carter (MFA Yale School of Drama, Prince of Tides). She most recently appeared as “Lady in Blue” in a popular Charlotte production of Ntozake Shange’s acclaimed choreopoem For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Her film works include the emotionally touching short Little Mama where she played a distraught young mother and the upcoming feature film Blood Done Signed My Name. She also appeared as herself in the award winning documentary Donor.
